Kaleô Ministry

If you are between the ages of 13 – 18, Kaleô Ministry is the place for you! Kaleô in Greek means “to call”. We believe that the Great I AM/ God is calling young people to Follow Him and Love Others passionately.

In Kaleô we help young people to:

  1. Discover the wonders of God’s Word and how It can be lived out
  2. Depend on God in Prayer
  3. Deepen our sense of community
  4. Declare God’s Love to our pre-believing friends

We meet every Sunday in Carmel Room ( 5th Floor) from 11.30am to 1pm. During this time, you will see our young people engage in a mix of the following activities:

  1. Youth-led worship
  2. Games
  3. Small group Bible studies
  4. Youth related theme talks

We welcome you to come and join us!!!

GEFC sponsors and runs curriculum for the 46th Boys Brigade Singapore Company at Junyuan Secondary School. GEFC has done so for the past 20 years, teaching secondary school boys the core values of Obedience, Reverence, Discipline and Self-Respect. In practice it means:

  1. To help members develop and grow in moral character
  2. To train members to become loyal and responsible citizens
  3. To promote members’ physical fitness and develop their leadership potential

We do the above through our weekly parades, annual camps, community service projects and national events.

The BB Officer’s Council is made of teachers and volunteers, some of whom are ex-boys of the 46th Company. These are formative years in a young man’s life and the officers play an instrumental role in nurturing our members. Through mentoring and coaching, they instill values of integrity, self-discipline as well as care and concern for others.

46th Boys' Brigade Ministry

The Girls’ Brigade 56th Singapore Company was founded in 2001 as a partnership between Junyuan Secondary School and GEFC. The aim of Girls’ Brigade is to help Girls become followers of the Lord Jesus Christ and through reverence, self-control, and a sense of responsibility to find true enrichment in life. To this end, our fourfold programme is modelled after Luke 2:52, and focuses on Educational, Physical, Spiritual, and Service aspects. We seek to develop each Girl in these four aspects through our weekly parades, annual Company camps, community service initiatives and participation in national events.

Throughout their 4 or 5 years with us, the Girls are given opportunities to work closely with their officers. This enables the officers to mentor and model Servant Leadership. In so doing to fulfil the GB Singapore’s mission to “develop each girl and officer to her fullest potential by equipping, empowering and enabling: Every Girl a Leader, Every Officer a Servant Leader.

Children's Ministry

“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” This was Jesus’ words to his disciples when the children were hindered from coming into the presence of our Lord in Matthew 19:14.

We echo the same vision. Children are part of the church of today and will grow to be disciple makers in the next generation. We hope that children will “not let anyone look down on [them] because [they] are young, but set an example in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity” (1 Timothy 4:12).

It is with this hope that we begin discipling our children through weekly Bible lessons. We gather around a passage of God’s Word and activities that help the lessons come alive for the children. We commit the Word of God to memory through our monthly Scripture memory verses and encourage our children to worship God wholeheartedly with their voices and with actions, in our thrice-a-month combined worship. We join the inter-generational service and Holy communion on the first Sunday of each month as a reminder that they are part of a larger body.

Apart from the weekly programmes, we encourage children to reach out through our yearly children’s outreach camp in November, where we have a few days of fun, discovering God’s identity for the children and His heart through games, songs, and activities that tell of God’s character.

Join us and see our children realise God’s heart for them and their generation!

Children’s Ministry (ages 3-12) meets every Sunday 9.15am
1st Sunday of each month: Communion Sunday (family worship in sanctuary)
Subsequent Sundays: Combined Children Worship in Carmel room (level 5)

The end objective of the Christian Education ministry is to build a solid biblical foundation for faith and life. It complements pulpit ministry, cell group, children, seniors and other ministries.

The Christian Education ministry has several components. The teaching programme for members is intended to deepen our understanding of the Word, the evolution of the church and the context within which we apply our faith to various spheres of our life, helping us live godly lives amidst the cultural and religious diversity that surround us

A “starter” programme catering to seekers and new believers, Christianity Explored, runs over 7 weeks/sessions. There are also ad hoc courses and talks from time to time, including sessions run specifically for other ministries such as the Seniors and the Chinese ministry.

Cell Group Ministry

What cells are to a human body is what Cell Groups are to our church body. Healthy Cell Groups lead to a healthy church body.

Cell Groups are our primary disciple-making vehicles. They are a vital part of our church community. They serve the following functions:

  1. Integrate newcomers into our community
  2. Encourage members in their walk and life in Jesus
  3. Connect the reality of their faith to the real needs around them
  4. Provide the environment to grow in love for God and people
  5. Provide the support as they navigate through life’s various challenges

Our aim is to produce with God’s help mature and healthy Christ-followers, who in turn are a blessing to their family, neighbours and country.

Our Cell Groups are also age-specific, covering Youth (13-18), Young Adult (18-35) and Adult. They meet at least twice a month in various venues.

A typical Cell programming includes:

  1. Worship – turning hearts to God
  2. Word – turning hearts to the study and application of His Word
  3. Work – turning hearts to service according to gifting
  4. Witness – turning hearts to reaching others for Christ

If you are interested to find out more about Cell Groups, please contact church office at 68460213 or email to gefcadmin@geylangefc.org.

The Adults Ministry (AM) focuses on members in the 35 – 65 years age. This is the age of establishing marriages, parenting, building careers, marriage challenges, service in Christian ministries, facing life’s frailties and crisis, planning for retirement. The journeys and roads traveled by this segment of believers are diverse, bringing about:

  1. Stress – due to the confluence of work, family responsibilities, life choices etc;
  2. Uncertainty – due to the transient economy, financial responsibilities, health, ageing etc;
  3. Carriage of past pain into the present life affecting relationships – due to family inflicted past hurts, emotional traumas, hurts, addictions etc.

The purpose of AM seeks to support this segment of believers, encouraging them to “Let Go, Let God” prevail over their life and their life situations. “Letting Go” of fears, anxieties, past pains and hurts and impact of emotional trauma and “Letting God” seeking the help of others, to heal, empower and restore. The aim is to embrace God’s love and forgiveness for ourselves so “that they may have life and have it ABUNDANTLY” (John 10:10).

AM is workshop focused, held over different intervals over a full day or over a 2 day weekend. The topics may be familiar to members. Beyond the familiarity and knowledge, attendees are encouraged to listen, meditate, exhort so that they can hear and listen to God speaking, not just to their heads, but more importantly, to their hearts.

Outreach Ministry

The Outreach Ministry reaches out to the community and seeks to demonstrate the love of Jesus in all that we say and do. We plan a series of activities in a year to cater to the needs and interests of the young and the not-so-young. It is our hope that through these activities, lives can be reached, impacted and transformed.

There are 3 types of Outreach activities:

3G ProgramLet’s Go Gai Gai

Through the 3G events, we have family-friendly events to reach out to families and the elderly. These events provide opportunities to engage in meaningful conversations and enjoy time with one another in a rather busy society. We have organised outdoor dancing at the Botanic Gardens, celebrated mid-autumn festival at the Gardens by the Bay, conducted educational talks like Traditional Chinese Medicine, and overseas trips to Penang. We love seeing 3 generations of family members coming together to an event, sharing precious time and creating memories together.

4G Program – Come and See

4G events are specially planned for the young adults and youths in the church and in the community. We create platforms for meaningful engagement among the youths. We seek also to assimilate the foreign students or working adults into Singapore’s culture. We have played floorball, organized hikes and rock climbing events. It’s our heart desire to impact the leaders of tomorrow today, by encouraging meaningful conversations and doing activities together. We hope to see generations of youths impacted and transformed in Jesus and  to bring about the betterment of Singapore and the society.

Special Projects –

The Outreach ministry also seeks opportunity to reach out to the marginalized and disadvantaged. We encouraged our members and friends to go beyond their comfort zone and be friends to them. One such example is helping to organize events for Hagar Singapore – an international organization dedicated to the recovery of women and children who have endured extreme abuses and  trauma of human trafficking and slavery.

The vision and mission of the Young Adult (YA) ministry is to inspire and help YAs grow spiritually and relationally, to be that powerful witness to the claims of Jesus in this post-truth world.  YAs at GEFC seek to build a faith community where we help one another to grow spiritually and relationally.  We want to help every YA to:

  1. Grow in their desire to study, apply and share the Word of God
  2. Build good habits, with specific focus on the daily-ness with Jesus
  3. A firm grasp of the Word of God
  4. Develop a heart for the lost
  5. Strengthen relationships within the YA community

The people in the YA ministry are typically young adults in their 20s and 30s.
We have the following sub-groups:

  1. Young Adults (Emerging) : typically comprising those in polytechnics, universities.  Majority of the people are from 19 years to 25 years.

Worship on Earth as It Is In Heaven

Worship Ministry

Our ministry is part of a never-ending, never-ceasing and an everlasting universal Choir who have been worshipping our Lord and Saviour over past generations and over generations to come. Yes, whilst here on earth and continued in Heaven.

At GEFC, we believe that worship is more than singing a well written and meaningful song or playing a tune or a dance offering on a bright Sunday morning. We believe worship is a lifestyle weaved into our very being.

It is a lifestyle of utmost devotion and unending praise to God in all that we do, yes, on weekdays even. This is our ministry’s singular aspiration for everyone here at GEFC.

Our Worship Ministry consists of over 50 worshipers who are part of our various teams of worship hosts, worship leaders, musicians, vocalists, AV crews and ushers. We believe that it is an honour and privilege that we get to lift up praise to the Lord and draw the congregation into His presence.

We are always on the lookout for people who have a heart to join the worship ministry. Come and join us and let us get a head start into eternal worship.

Our Core Values are from:

  • Acts 4:13 “ When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.”
  • To be Christlike, becoming the Gospel, and with a Servant’s heart.”
  • Galatians 4:19 –  My dear children, for whom I am again in the pains of    childbirth until Christ is formed in you
  • Colossians 1:28-29  – He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ. To this end I strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so powerfully works in me.

We are presently a group of 20-30 believers.
In this year 2020, we are going Back to Basics, focusing on:

  1. Developing our devotional Life
  2. Praying using the attributes of God from Psalms. Besides this, we are beginning to pray as a congregation
    1. Outwardly as regards the world,
    2. Internally as regards to Church and
    3. Individually praying for one another.
  3. Our members will be commencing on the discipline of “Reading the Bible in 2 years” soon.
